TuningBox®: In many countries this name has become common name for an add-on unit.
This success owes nothing to chance. TuningBox® was without doubt the first add-on unit to successfully market on a grand scale.
It all began in 1988. Didier Hermann opened a diagnostics centre, specializing in engine optimization. Success followed swiftly, with customers flocking in from all over; his reputation was that good. He specialized in chip tuning, i.e. reprogramming the original ECU. At this time, to reprogram the ECU, you needed to open, solder, ... It was a long and laborious job.
Didier Hermann wanted to offer an alternative, something easy to install; a more user-friendly system. All of his tests and research finally wound up with the invention of an add-on unit designed to increase the power and torque in turbo engines. TuningBox® was born.
In 1995, Didier Hermann created what was probably the first company to manufacture and market add-on units.
Today, TuningBox® remains the leader on the add-on unit market, and markets its
product in more than 30 countries. This long life is doubtless the fruit of the quality of TuningBox® products and more especially to the Research & Development department, which continually works to improve and adapt the unit to new engines. Incidentally, even though since 1995 a number of competing products have appeared on the market, TuningBox® offers a service and an easily accessible unique help desk that are totally exceptional.
Didier Hermann also manufactures add-on units for retailers who market them under other names.
